ITANAGAR, Jun 30: The capital police arrested Tadar Chada, who is the prime accused in the police case registered at Naharlagun police station relating to the seizure of Marijuana in huge quantities from his residence on Friday last.
Capital SP Jimmy Chiram informed that Chada was arrested by the police outside the Yupia session court on Wednesday.  He said the accused had applied for bail in the Session Court Yupia on June 28 last as police were in search. 
However, the court rejected the bail based on strong opposing arguments by the Public Prosecutor (PP) and Capital Police in the interest of the investigation.
Chiram said that post rejection of the bail the police arrested the accused from outside the court before he could flee. With the arrest of Chada, the police has so far arrested three persons in the case. Capital police are working on more arrests and recovery related to this case.
“It is expected that this huge recovery has dented the availability of Marijuana (Ganja) in the Capital in a big way. Capital police appeals to the public to keep coming forward with information on any such activities and help us fight drugs,” he said. 
Chada is from Kurung Kumey district presently residing in Gollonallah area, Kankarnallah, Naharlagun. The accused was arrested in the case filed at Naharlagun PS Case No- 82/22 U/S 20(b) (ii) (C) /27a/29 NDPS Act.
On Friday, the capital police arrested Tadar Kampung and seized around 526 kilograms of marijuana worth Rs 52 lakh from a concealed storage of her house in the Kankarnallah area near here. Tadar Chada, who is the husband of Tadar Kampung was not present in the house during the raid and was absconding.
Meanwhile, based on the information during the interrogation, a raid and search operation was conducted on Sunday night in which another covert storage was busted by the police at Lekhi village near Dikrong river bank.
During the search, 12 gunny bags full of suspected Ganja weighing around 195.67 Kg were seized and Paul was arrested. This seized Ganja was transported from Mengio, Papumpare as per reports.
With this subsequent seizure, the total quantity has reached 721 kgs of suspected ganja with an approximate market value of Rs 72 Lakhs.
