Itanagar, Nov 2: Capital District Administration today carried out raids in Gandhi Market and seized huge quantities of Single Use Plastic (SUP) from several shopkeepers.
The raids were carried out by Capital Extra Assistant Commissioner Dakli Gara, Circle Officer Likha Radh, Itanagar SDPO Kamdam Sikom accompanied by APP, CRPF and officers of Itanagar police station. Around 150 kg of SUP were sized while around 22 shops were shut down for few hours for conducting legal formalities. Warnings, advices and awareness were given to the shopkeepers urging them to discard SUP and help in preventing pollution. EAC, CO and SDPO while talking to this daily informed that the raids were basically designed to create awareness among shopkeepers and consumers so that they avoid using the harmful SUP.
They also appealed the general public to support the business communities and administration in freeing the state from this pollutant.
