ITANAGAR, Apr 7: The capital complex administration today sealed wine shops within 500 metres of NH415 from Itanagar to Banderdewa in compliance to the Supreme Court order. District Magistrate, Capital Complex, Prince Dhawan, issued the concerned Administrative Officers and Superintendent Tax and Excise to carry out the exercise.

Deputy Commissioner, ICC, Prince Dhawan informed that ample opportunity has been given to the owners of the wine shops to submit proposal to shift their wine shops to suitable locations. ‘A series of meetings were held in this regard with the representatives of the wine shops owners before pronouncing the order and the representation submitted by the wine shop owners has been forwarded to the State Government with a favourable recommendation,’ he added.              

However, as per the direction of the Apex Court, the wine shops whose licences have already been renewed prior to the date mentioned in the latest review order of the Supreme Court are allowed to open until the term of their licence expires but not later than August 2017. The District Magistrate informed that on expiry of term of the licences, such wine shops will be sealed
