ITANAGAR, Jan 6: A total of 664 books were donated by 35 well wishers during the 2-day book donation camps held for augmentation of school libraries organised by the Galo Welfare Society Library Movement (GWSLM) on January 4-5 in various parts of the capital complex.
The mission has been conceptualised to inculcate and encourage reading habits among children and youths by augmenting the existing school libraries in Galo inhabited areas. Many government schools do not have a functional library because of which poor students do not get access to good books for preparing for competitive exams.
The GWSLM is going to donate library books to 37 Government Higher Secondary & Government Secondary schools located in four Galo inhabited districts namely West Siang, Leparada, Lower Siang and Upper Subansiri districts.
Dr.Pakngu Lombi as Chairman, Dr.Eli Doye as Vice-Chairman and Er.Binga Gara as Member Secretary and 14 other members were part of the Committee.
