Yupia, Sep 4: An Inter-State Border meeting between Deputy Commissioner North Lakhimpur District , Assam and Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare District, Arunachal Pradesh was held at DC’s Conference Hall today to discuss various issues relating to border disputes and related matters.
While addressing the gathering of concerned officers from both sides, Deputy Commissioner North Lakhimpur District, Jeevan.B impressed upon the need for conducting more Peace Committee meetings and joint patrolling to diffuse tension among people living in border areas.
He also said that the officers of both sides should work for greater benefit of people and should maintain better co-ordination among each other to tackle any situation by explaining to the people to practice restraint and give more importance to peace and communal harmony. Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu highlighted the historical aspects and age old camaraderie between people of Assam and Arunachal since time immemorial and reiterated on continuing the follow ups on peace talks and joint patrolling by officers of both sides to prevent flaring up of violence in border areas in days to come. He also hand over the local commission report to his counterpart.
SP Papum Pare Jimmy Chiram also stressed for proper border strategy for peaceful coexistence and to act in a more practical way to help local people living in border areas. He also assured all kinds of cooperation and support from Police and called for taking up initiative of community policing and joint patrolling from both sides.
ASP North Lakhimpur who also spoke, urged upon maintaining peace and harmony and cooperation. DFO North Lakhimpur, DFO Banderdewa and ADC Yupia and Kimin also spoke on the occasion.
Concerned Head of Departments, Admin officers and Forest Officers from Assam and Arunachal attended the meeting. DIPRO
