ITANAGAR, Sep 7: The Arunachal Youth organization (AYO) on friday sought CBI probe into the infamous Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) scam from Potin to Bopi under Lower Subansiri to expose other people involved in the gross misuse of development funds.
Addressing a press conference, its president, Godak Takam opined that only a CBI probe would do justice keeping in view people's sentiments. In this connection, Takam requested the Chief Minister to recommend a CBI inquiry to unearth the real picture of the compensation scam so that appropriate actions could be taken against people involved in it.
AYO, General Secretary, Bei Tach Rotom urged the CM to personally monitor the ongoing PMGSY schemes tender process in about 11 districts of the state for free and fair implementation.
Justifying its demands, Rotom alleged that on various occasions in the past malpractices such as bribery, fixing, violation of tender norms, etc were detected in awarding PMGSY tender packages by implementing agencies in connection with political leaders and contractors which ultimately result in the poor construction of rural roads.
“There are several PMGSY road works existing on paper but the ground reality is quite different. In many cases, the contractors made money without carrying out any work thereby depriving people especially living in remote areas of their basic rights,” Rotom recalled.
It further threatened to launch a democratic movement if their demands are not fulfilled within a stipulated time.
