ITANAGAR, Dec 12: As the protests continue to escalate in neighbouring Assam, fuel crisis has surfaced in the Capital Complex areas with most of the petrol depots here including those at Gohpur and Doimukh ran out of the stock by this afternoon.
Besides two, three and four-wheelers, denizens were seen queuing with bottles and gallons outside petrol depots in almost all the stations.
“Due to ongoing agitation in Assam the vehicles are unable to move from the refineries of Digboi and Numalighar causing the crisis,” informed the Manager of a petrol pump.
Meanwhile, with the intervention of the Chief Secretary, IOC Depot, Emchi has issued diesel to the oil tankers today to relieve the crisis. Secretary of Legal Metrology & Consumer Affairs (LM&CA) and Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS) Jokey Angu accompanied by Controller Legal Metrology cum Director Consumer Affairs Hoktum Ori and Jurisdictional Inspector Legal Metrology Debia Tana met the Chief Manager, IOC Depot, Emchi Er. Huwuto Sema this morning and discussed matters relating to crisis and the first tanker with diesel was sent off at around 11.30 am today. Deputy Commissioner (Incharge) Capital Talom Dupak released an order informing that as per the Chief Depot Manager of IOCL (AOD) Emchi, Doimukh, sufficient stocks are being maintained to cater the fuel requirement of central Arunachal Pradesh including state capital at least for the next two weeks.
DC also directed the petrol depots to dispense 5 litres per vehicle to 2 & 3 Wheelers and 10 litres per vehicle to four-wheelers. Moreover, selling of POL items in bottles and gallons has also been restricted by the administration.
