SINGCHUNG, Sep 10:  The Bugun community celebrated  its prestigious  Pham-Kho-Sowai festival with traditional fervor here on Friday.Young and old wearing traditional attire celebrated the festival which was organized by the  All Bugun (Khowa) Society.
Mokar Riba, ADC- Singchung and  Gejay Jebisow – Chairperson MES Builder Association attended the celebration as Chief Guest & Guest of honour respectively.
Extending greetings to the people, Riba appreciated the community leader for observing the festival by marinating COVID protocols. He also urged the youths to maintain their traditional dialects and customs. "Many local dialects and traditions are on the verge of extinction; we should embrace modernization but we should not forget our roots," added the ADC.
Earlier, Sunil Bahung informed that the Pham-Kho-Sowai is a harvest festival where "we pray to the almighty  for good harvest and wellness of villagers." He also added that for the last two years, the community has  not observed the festival due to COVID.  This year as the rate of infection has decreased, so the festival is being  observed in a low key manner for a day only, or else  the festival is celebrated for at least a week, he said.
Among others, former Minister N Glow, Namfa- Bichom block ZPM-Shanti Lali, and other dignitaries attended the festival.
