YAZALI, Sep 25: The 20th edition of the late Bengia Takam memorial cricket tournament (BTMCT) started here in the Lower Subansiri district on Sunday. The Papum Pare SP Dr. Neelam Nega inaugurated the tournament in presence of family members of late Takam and all the participating team members. 
In the inaugural match, All Rubdi Area Students Organisation defeated Seth Yemdi team.  Altogether 13 teams from various parts of the state are participating in the tournament.
Earlier speaking during the inauguration ceremony,  SP Nega urged the participants to take sports seriously and keep away from drugs. “These days so many people, even from a young age, are dying of high blood pressure stroke. People are not indulging in physical activities and due to this lifestyle diseases like stroke are taking many lives. It is important to play sports to keep oneself physically and mentally fit,” he said. 
Also on the occasion, the organizing chairman of BTMCT, Bengia Pada explained in detail the reason behind organizing the tournament. The tournament concludes on October 6 to mark the death anniversary of the late Bengia Takam who was a renowned personality of the Yazali area. The tournament was started in his memory by his sibling and the president of Nyishi Elite Society Bengia Tolum.
