ITANAGAR, Jul 27: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Employees Union (BSNLEU) in association with the All India Graduate Engineers and Telecom Officers Association (AIGETOA) on Thursday observed a daylong strike in front of the BSNL district general manager’s office here.

The protesters were demanding wage revision, pension revision, superannuation benefits to direct recruitment (DR) employees and withdrawal of the BSNL corporate office letter banning trade union activities.

The strike was called by the Central Headquarters Unions and Associations.

BSNLEU district secretary, Ragunath Ray, said that the revision of wages of many executives and non-executives was due from January 1 this year; however, the BSNL management had not taken any initiative in this regard.

We also sat for a dharna on July 20 last and before that a hunger strike, but our genuine demands are not been looked into, said Ray who added that they would continue with the agitations in the days ahead.
