TAWANG, Apr 21: Minister, Home, RD, Panchayati Raj etc. Bamang Felix today while chairing a review meeting with the officers of RD & PR department here at the DC’s conference hall called for their concerted efforts in ushering in departmental reforms.
Reiterating his objective of transforming rural Arunachal through development, Felix exhorted the department officers to work together, contending that with a very small population, bringing betterment in rural people’s lives is possible if there is a team effort. Speaking about the performance of the RD department in Tawang, the Minister while lauding the achievements added that there are a few aspects which need intervention. Underscoring the importance of the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) in the functioning of the department, Felix informed that from now onwards the institute will disseminate information and train the officers and officials right from Block level. He instructed the DPDO to ask for a copy of the training calendar released by him recently from the SIRD for further circulation among officers and officials.
MLA Tawang Tsering Tashi expressed gratitude to the minister for conducting review meetings with the district’s officers and taking suggestions from the ground-level officials. On behalf of the district’s panchayat members, ZPC Leki Gombu apprised the Minister of the need for further decentralisation of powers in the PRIs. DC Sang Phuntsok also spoke on the occasion.
