TEZU, Oct 9: For the inhabitants of Bhekuliang and Vedagam— two of the most underdeveloped and remote villages of Lohit district which regularly suffers the wrath of monsoon rains as it remains cut-off from rest of the district for months on end, finally there is something to cheer about. The 80 metre bridge over the Hazu river, which was a long felt demand of the locals, is now complete and has been opened for vehicular movement.
Executive Engineer PWD, T Gao said that after much persuasion by Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan, Former Minister Mohesh Chai and present MLA Karikho Kri the connectivity infrastructure has materialised.
“We have been working against all odds to complete the bridge on time; now little work has been left and the bridge is ready and movement of vehicles is allowed. Inauguration ceremony will be held soon. 100 meters of approach at both sides remain to be blacktopped,” the EE said after proper inspection accompanied by Assistant Engineer Sunpura sub- division, T Lomi here today.
The EE also appreciated the M/S Om Traders for its resources to build the bridge as per specification and in time.
Meanwhile, the public of Bhekuliang and Vedagam have appreciated the state government for the completion of the much awaited bridge on time.
