PASIGHAT, Jul 7:A breakthrough has been made in the impasse between the administration and the villagers of Namsing over the auctioning of the Taro Tamak Ghat. After daylong threadbare discussion, members finally agreed to participate in the free and fair tender process to be conducted by the District Administration for the auctioning of the ghat.

Recently Advisor to CM, Lombo Tayeng, had called for a meeting at Namsing Dere under Mebo subdivision to find a solution to the impasse.

In his address, Tayeng who is also the local MLA elaborated on the causes and reasons for notifying Tender process for Taro Tamak Ghat and government responsibility to maintain the security and safety of commuters of the ghat. He pointed out that government has listed 15 river ghats to be auctioned on “Tender basis”.

Earlier, DC Tamiyo Tatak while sharing his views on floating NIT for leasing of Taro Tamak Ghat, assured to take up the matter with higher authority so that registration of ferry, issuing of fitness certificate, plying permit and insurance certificate could be done at Pasighat instead of Assam.

DTO(MV) Chakfa Wangsu who is also the district nodal officer of “Inland Water Transport” of East Siang District explained the Rules and Regulations framed by the government and obligation of the department to tender the Taro Tamak Ghat.
