Ruksin, May 29: At a time when everyone is locked indoors, a few bravehearts are discharging their duties restlessly, risking their lives to combat the lethal coronavirus that will attract instantaneous appreciation.
Along with the frontline warriors comprising the doctors, police personnel and government staff, Orik Padun of Ruksin village in East Siang district has included himself in the same bracket through his exemplary deeds. Padun has devoted himself as a volunteer by serving food, water and snacks to the stranded students returning from different states via the Ruksin check gate, despite his busy personal schedule. Ruksin town has assumed importance since convoys are plying twice daily to ferry the returnees from East Siang, Siang, West Siang, Shi-Yomi, Upper Siang, LDV, Lohit, etc.
Meanwhile, local MLA Ninong Ering as an appreciation of the noble gesture of Padun said: “The hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray” adding that more such social workers come forward, the more it will be beneficial for society.
