ITANAGAR, Apr 30: A book titled 'Snakes of Pakke Tiger Reserve' was released by the PCCF (WL&BD) & Chief WildLife Warden at Bhalukpong today.
The book is a compilation of 46 species of snakes authored by Kime Rambia, Range Forest Officer & Ms. Shardha Rathod. This is the first ever book to list local names of snakes in Nyishi, Aka & Miji, the three languages spoken around Pakke Tiger Reserve. The book  contains brief description of all the species and their venom status, alongside which is a simple distribution map and spectacular image that is a visual aid to identification. A few of these snakes have not been recorded by authors, but as they have been photo-documented close to Pakke Tiger Reserve, they are likely to occur  within the reserve and therefore have been included in the book. The book is outcome of extensive survey in and around Pakke Tiger Reserve.
Rambia and his team has also initated a rescue program to mitigate Human-Snake Conflict, where they have rescued more than 300 Snakes over period of four years.
