BOMDILA, Jul 30: Acting on a tip-off, Bomdila police on Wednesday seized a truck loaded with illegal timber worth lakhs here in the township. 
On the night of  July 29, an information was received that a truck loaded with illegal timber from Nafra may cross Bomdila on its way to Assam. To thwart the attempt, a naka was placed by OC PS Bomdila SI K. Dev and his team. At around 2 am, a truck approaching the naka was spotted and intercepted and after a thorough search a huge quantity of timber was found, a press statement from SP Bomdila stated. The press communiqué further added that the truck bearing registration no. AS 13 C- 3644 was seized and the driver Passang Tamang was arrested for further interrogation. During interrogation the arrested driver revealed that the seized illegal timber was loaded in Khazalang, Nafra and was proceeding towards Bhalukpong where the recipient party was to unload the said timber for passage to Assam through another vehicle. 
DFO Bomdila who visited the Bomdila PS also verified the fact. A case vide Bomdila PS C/No. 31/2 U/S 379/411 IPC R/W SEC 3/7 of A.P. Forest (Removal of Timber) Act 1983 has been registered and investigation is on to find the other accused persons involved in the racket.
A detailed investigation has been undertaken to ascertain all the facts as it has transpired that illegal timber operations are being carried out in some parts of West Kameng district.
