ITANAGAR, Sep 20: A blood donation camp was organized on September 17 last by 138 Bn CRPF at its headquarters in Itanagar, under the flagship of Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav in association with the Akhil Bhartiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP), Arunachal Pradesh Police and Gorkha Welfare Society, Itanagar.
The programme was inaugurated by Swami Dr. Kripakarananda, Secretary, RK Mission hospital, Itanagar in presence of Swami Praiyatmananda, HS Kales, Commdant-138 Bn, CRPF, Vedpal Singh, Dy. Commandant-138 Bn,  Dr. Sonjoy Tamuli, Medical Officer-138 Bn, Kishor Kumar Gurung, Vice President, Gorkha Welfare Society, Itanagar.
Vice-president of Indian Medical Association (Arunachal Pradesh),  Dr. Thongdok addressed the gathering about the importance of blood donation, its crucial need in saving hundreds of lives every day and role of blood donation on donors health. He dispelled myths surrounding blood donation and stressed on shortage of blood at blood banks of RK Mission Hospital and TRIHMS in the state capital.
A medical team from RK Mission hospital comprising doctors and paramedics facilitated the campaign which saw good participation from civil society. A total of 60 units of blood were collected.
Similar camp was held at Lakhimpur Medical College & Hospital, North Lakhimpur, Assam by the 138 Bn CRPF Unit personnel.
