ITANAGAR, Apr 25: A day after the former Home Minister and National People’s Party candidate Kumar Waii alleged the ruling BJP government of blatantly using government machinery as well as money & muscle power to win elections, state BJP Vice President Dominic Tadar has refuted all allegations, terming them baseless.
Tadar clarified that although BJP is running the government as of now, using government machinery is impossible under Model Code of Conduct (MCC) atmosphere. Election Commission becomes the head of the state during the poll process and so everything is under their vigil, Tadar commented.
On using money and muscle power, Tadar categorically stated that not even a single BJP candidate has used them during elections. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu the party is very much concerned over cash for vote, and BJP does not endorse such culture of money and muscle power in elections and has fought the elections on development agenda alone,” added Tadar. Further, responding to the incident of Pasighat where Rs. 1.8 crore was seized from the convoy of the Chief Minister, he said that it is prudent to wait for the Election Commission’s inquiry report.
While reacting to allegation of blocking government cheques, the BJP Vice President said that state’s financial condition is good and the cheques are being held up due to the on-going election process. The validity of the cheques has been extended up to May 31 next and hence there is no question of expiry of the validity of the government cheques and will be released as soon as the election process gets over, added Tadar.
