Itanagar, Dec 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh today organised a grand victory celebration at the State Party Head Office, Itanagar, to express its heartfelt gratitude to the people of Arunachal Pradesh for the resounding mandate given to the party in the Panchayat and Municipal Corporation Elections 2025.
The celebration was attended by senior leaders and dignitaries, including Chief Minister Pema Khandu, State BJP President Kaling Moyong, MLA Itanagar Techi Kaso, and State General Secretary Tadar Niglar. The programme was also attended by BJP State Office Bearers, Morcha Heads, Government Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen, and newly elected Corporators.
Addressing the gathering, Moyong thanked the people of Arunachal Pradesh for reposing their trust and confidence in the party’s vision, leadership, and development-oriented governance. He stated that during the third consecutive term of the BJP government under the able leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the people have shown pro-incumbency instead of anti-incumbency. The overwhelming victory in the local bodies elections reflects the people’s continued faith in the pro-people policies and transparent administration of the BJP-led government in the state, he said.
Later addressing the media, CM Khandu stated that the clear mandate reflects the people’s strong support for the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Viksit Bharat and Viksit Arunachal Pradesh. He further assured that although the BJP has lost a few seats, these have gone to NDA partners, and the party will positively form local bodies in coordination with them.
Khandu informed that out of a total of 8,208 Gram Panchayat Members (GPMs), BJP has secured victories in over 6,000 seats, with final results still awaited. Similarly, out of 245 Zilla Panchayat Members (ZPMs), BJP has won 170 seats, including 44 seats where candidates were elected unopposed, reflecting strong grassroots support for the party.
In the Itanagar Municipal Corporation elections, BJP won 14 out of 20 seats, while the remaining seats were secured by NDA partners—NCP (3 seats) and LJP (2 seats)—and one seat by an Independent candidate. Khandu congratulated all the newly elected ZPMs, Corporators, Councillors, and GPMs on their victory.
He further informed the media fraternity that Arunachal Pradesh is leading nationally in the implementation of the SPICE Model—Sustainable, Participatory, Inclusive, Comprehensive, and Empowerment. Under this model, state funds devolved to Panchayats include ₹123 crore (2022–23), ₹1,431 crore (2023–24), ₹16,398 crore (2024–25), and ₹22,374 crore (2025–26).
He added that after January 10, 2026, following the election of Gram Panchayat Chairpersons and Zilla Parishad Chairpersons, structured training programmes will be conducted through a Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Rural Management, Gujarat. The training will focus on leadership, planning, governance, and convergence towards the goal of Viksit Bharat. He also informed that the newly elected local body representatives will be trained through Gujarat-based institutions as per the MoU signed by the state government.
