MAHADEVPUR, Jan 21: Hundreds of people under the aegis of All Moran Students Union (Assam) in collaboration with the Moran students union  of Lekang organized a bike rally demanding  Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC)  for the people of Lekang.
The rally which was part of the 100-hour economic blocked kicked off from Tinsukia (Assam) and was to culminate at Deputy Commissioner Office Namsai, but to evade any untoward incident Police stopped the rally at Noa Dihing Bridge, some 5Km ahead from the DC Office.
Speaking to reporters, President, All Moran Students Union (Assam), Arun Jyoti Moran informed that the Assam Unit had to interfere due to fake promises by political leaders in regards to the PRC. “The Moran community is living in Lekang constituency since time immemorial. They have not migrated from anywhere nor do they have any land in Assam but they are part of Arunachal,” claimed the President.
No more fake promises on PRC, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein himself came to Tinsukia and assured PRC within first January. So we have submitted memorandum to the DC Namsai  to issue PRC to the genuine Moran people residing in the constituency within stipulated time, he added. 
He also informed that the rally also marked their our protest against the recently introduced Citizenship Amendment Bill.
Meanwhile,  All Tai Khamti  Singpho Students Union, All Namsai District Students Union, All Namsai Area Youth Association and  Women Welfare Society  Namsai  have jointly submitted a memorandum to the DC to take proper action  against the  rally organizers under Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful  Prevention Activities Act for creating disturbance in the area.
“Their fight is with the government and we have nothing to do with it. The state government must ensure peace and tranquillity in the area and indigenous rights should be compromised,” said  President ATKSSU  Chow Kohana Chowpoo.
