BOMDILA, Jan 28: West Kameng District Administration in a coordination meeting today has decided to temporarily close the Bhalukpong-Charduar-Tawang (BCT) road for a period of 21 days w.e.f February 11-March 3 to allow necessary construction works.
The meeting was held under chairmanship of Chairman, District Development Committee-cum-Adviser to Minister PWD Phurpa Tsering. Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki informed that as the road is the lifeline of Tawang, West Kameng and East Kameng districts, all important stakeholders such as MLAs, SPs, Police, 5 Mountain Division Tenga, 14 BRTF, CBOs, student unions and public leaders have been invited in the meeting.
Director of ABCI Infra Pvt. Ltd., the construction agency while informing that works are expected to be completed before stipulated time, however, highlighted the problem of construction of a 30-meter long bridge between Sessa and Nechiphu caused due to frequent plying of vehicles.
After extensive discussion and taking into account the views and suggestions of all concerned stakeholders, it was decided to temporarily close the road for the said period. However, LMVs, medical emergencies and VIP visits have been exempted and an alternate route via Kimi-Khuppi-Nechipu (Zero Point) was suggested for heavy vehicular movements.
It was decided that BCT road will be opened from March 4. DIPRO
