ITANAGAR, Mar 31: The Arunachal Pradesh Bar Association has strongly condemned the alleged assault on an advocate, terming it a serious attack on the legal fraternity and the rule of law.
Addressing the media, Bar Association President Nabam Regum confirmed that an FIR has been registered against disqualified AAPSU 2026 presidential candidate Likha Akash and two unidentified individuals. The case involves grave charges, including criminal trespass, physical assault, and attempt to murder.
The alleged victim, advocate Gegum Lollen, was reportedly attacked amid tensions following Akash’s disqualification from the election race, adding a violent dimension to the already heated situation.
Condemning the incident in strong words, the Bar Association stated that any form of violence against advocates is unacceptable and must be dealt with firmly. The body has demanded strict legal action against those involved to uphold the dignity and safety of the legal profession.
Regum described the case as “serious in nature” and emphasized that a fair, transparent, and impartial investigation is essential to ensure justice. He also appealed to the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to proceed without interference.
