ITANAGAR, Aug 4: Chief Engineer PWD (Highway) S Sumnyan has said that construction works of the underpass at Bank Tinali in the capital can't be completed by August 15 next and may take a few more days to be operational for vehicular movement.
The CE along with the Highway authority today inspected the ongoing construction of the underpass. “Efforts are being made to complete the underpass as early as possible. However, it won’t be completed by August 15 and a few more days will be necessary for full completion,” Sumnyan said, hinting that it may be operational by August 20 next. The CE has appealed to the denizens to support the workers and let the work be completed with 'quality' for public use.
“As per contract, the underpass construction is supposed to be completed by September next. However, looking into the problems faced by the people and increasing traffic congestion, we are in an effort to complete the underpass as soon as possible,” he said. The CE further informed that the culvert which is being constructed near BSNL office will take time to be completed, thereby causing more delay in opening the underpass for public use.
Meanwhile, EE(Highway) Nani Tath informed that one of the service roads at the underpass has been opened from today for vehicular movement.
