PASIGHAT, Mar 20: Bank of Baroda will soon install an Automated Teller Machine at Mebo town. The decision comes in the wake of the local MLA Lombo Tayeng meeting up with the bank's officials in Guwahati, considering the genuine need for the same by the people of his constituency.
Tayeng called on Sonam T. Bhutia, Dy. General Manager, North East Region, Bank of Baroda at Guwahati on Friday and was assured that an ATM will be soon set up.
Tayeng urged Bhutia to install the ATM booth at the earliest considering the demand of masses as people of Mebo, especially from Lower Mebo areas, face trouble travelling to reach Pasighat, the district headquarters to withdraw money from ATM as queuing up in bank branches to withdraw money is very difficult for poor villagers from far off areas.
There has been constant demand for an ATM booth by people of Mebo from quite some time now, but such facilities haven’t been extended by banks yet. With around 15000 population, Mebo Sub-Division deserves an ATM booth to ease the hardship of the public in travelling to Pasighat.
