ITANAGAR, Aug 8: Days after the Capital District administration lifted the ICR lockdown, the Banderdewa check gate witnessed heavy traffic and long queues of people reminiscent of the pre-lockdown days.
The massive crowd along the check gate prompted authorities to depute more technicians and testing equipment for Covid-19.
Additional District Magistrate, Talo Potom who was reviewing the situation at the spot told media persons that huge crowd was spotted at Banderdewa check gate after the entry-exit via Gumto check gate was temporarily suspended for few days.
"The matter was resolved today after Deputy Commissioner ICR took up the matter with DC Papumpare who agreed to allow movement of vehicles via Gumto check gate," Potom disclosed.
Admitting that more rush is expected in coming days, Potom disclosed that to contain the situation he held a meeting with DC, ICR wherein it was agreed to increase the technicians as well as testing equipment capacity.
Meanwhile, Potom said DA was able to contain the crowd to some extent after the introduction of an online system for registration.
Later he raised awareness on the ground using a megaphone about the online registration system while urging people to maintain physical distance while standing in queues.
