Tezu, Aug 25: The 12th Annual Day celebrations of Bamboosa Library & Lohit Youth Library Network was observed with a call to the young minds to inculcate habit of reading books.  
Highlights of the celebration was the presentation of the prestigious Annual Awards. The Ranganatha Award for meritorious library services and educational motivation to the youth of Wakro circle was awarded to the teacher-volunteer, APNE Library, Wakro Kamlesh Raut. This award is given in honour of two great figures of Indian library movement Rev. Swami Ranganathanandaji and Professor S. R Ranganathan. The Sister Nivedita Award for outstanding support to Bamboosa Library services and stimulating reading habits among the youths of Tezu was awarded to library mentor and now Assistant Engineer at Anini, Jimu Mele. Several other activists also received prizes from the guests.
Sharing his memories of more than three decades of close interactions with the Arunachalee youths, Associate Professor at Indira Gandhi Government College, Tezu Dr Rajendra Babu succinctly explained why reading and possessing printed books is far more practical, prudent and healthy for both mind and eyes. Chief Guest Yalum Ama presented Dr Babu a memento on behalf of the Library Network. Coordinator, Lohit Youth Library Network presented the Annual Report and highlighted the recognition received from the state government which had invited the Library Network to coordinate the Book Exhibition event of the Arunachal Literary & Arts Festival in August 2018. He also announced the encouraging news of a children’s book titled “Picture Gandhi” coming out in 5 Arunachalee languages on October 2 next in Adi, Apatani, Miju Mishmi, Nyishi and Nocte languages and also one in Bodo to be brought out by Tulika Books, Chennai.  Eminent Arunachalee elites of these languages are involved in the project.    
Diyalu Mam a class XII volunteer read out extracts from Tulika’s first Children’s book in Mishmi language “Hambreelmai Sai” authored by Mamang Dai and translated by Sokehp Kri. Readers from Tezu West Government UP School, Telluliang Government Secondary School & Amik Matai Vidya Mandir and library activists from IGG College presented a range of reading promotion activities with poems on environment and thought-provoking skits on Swacchata Abhiyan. Chairman, CALSOM Tezu Block Yalum Ama warned the youths about the recent spread of severe addiction problems in Arunachal due to drugs and excessive use of mobile phones.
Sri Ama advised them to work on improving their lives by focusing on reading and realising the value of books. Convenor, Lohit Libraries Sokhep Kri presented a memento to the chief guest. Correspondent
