Itanagar, Nov 1: A review meeting of Training Providers under APSDM was conducted today here at the Conference Hall of Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship with Minister, SD & E Tumke Bagra attending as Chief Guest.
Secretary, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Department, GoAP, N.T. Glow, Director SD&E Subu Tabin along with other officials of the Department, Principals of ITIs and representatives of Training Providers were present.
Bagra reviewed the progress made by Training Providers and learnt the processes followed by them to mobilise, train, assess, place and track the youths undergoing technical courses. Various success stories were showcased by the Training Providers along with the challenges involved in skilling. While reiterating the importance of placement, he appealed the Training Providers to impart training in a holistic way. Tabin highlighted the progress of various schemes implemented by the department and informed that Arunachal Pradesh as a state has received special appreciation from the Centre regarding the quality of training imparted. Highlighting the challenges, he expressed concerns regarding placement and retention of youths in jobs outside the state. N T Glow urged the Training Providers to enhance their performance and bring it at par with best performing states in the country. He also assured that all required support will be extended by the state so as to achieve the common goal of skilling the youth and making them employable.
An internal review meeting was also taken by the Minister with the principals of various Industrial Training Institutes of the state where he advised them to have dedicated placement cells and prepare detail proposals for setting up a National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) and Kaushal Bhavan which can be taken up with the Union Ministry for perusal. As the Department of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship is a new one and lacks adequate manpower, Bagra wished to take up the issue in cabinet meeting.
Four Training Providers viz. Access Edutech, Orion Edutech, Space Miracle and Jarbom Gamlin Skill Training Institute shared their practices and success stories during the meeting.
