PASIGHAT, Jan 6: A Special National Service Scheme (NSS) Camp commenced today at Paglek village with a call to intensify efforts against all forms of drug and substance abuse by Chief Guest Aini Taloh, founder chairperson of the popular voluntary blood donation organisation AYANG.
Lovingly known as Ayi (mother), Taloh appealed the youths to be warriors against intoxicants and keep themselves away from the menace in all its forms, also reminding about the short and long term negative effects of alcohol, drugs, nicotine and tobacco. She appreciated the Students’ Welfare Officer Dr Devachandra's efforts in letting the CHF students mingle with the villagers of Paglek through various interactive sessions and thanked the villagers for helping NSS students organise the programme at their community hall. She further requested them to accept the students as their own children and cooperate with them in their activities. Headmaster of Paglek school along with students attended the programme and some of them presented beautiful dance numbers. Dean, CHF also attended the programme and appreciated Ayi for her humanitarian work. Dr Devachandra and his students also appreciated her for being present on the occasion.
Ayi informed that AYANG will organise a voluntary blood donation camp at BPGH Pasighat on January 11 next.
