ITANAGAR, Aug 20: Hundreds of spectators filled the APBN Ground in Chimpu to cheer for their favorite team and watch the final  of the ICR's Solung Festival Football Championship on Saturday.
Displaying great team spirt and tactics throughout the game,  defending champion Ayanam Abor FC defeated RGU FC to win the championship trophy for the second time in a row by 2-0.
Kabang Pangking and Olik Tayeng were declared the best goalkeeper and player of the tournament.  The award for highest scorer went to Jopok Pertin.
Director, Sports Authority of Arunachal Pradesh, Gumyak Karbak and Deputy Director, Sports Department, Mala Linngi participated in the closing ceremony as chief guest and guest of honour.  Later Dambuk MLA Gum Tayeng also joined to watch the match.
Interacting with the media, Director, SAA, G Karbak lauded the organizing community for emphasizing on sporting activities especially football while celebrating the festival.
“Such efforts, directly or indirectly, are helping the mission of the concerned department to promote and develop sports culture among the youth in the state. Sports should be included in community activities and social policy to prevent the youth from indulging in drug related activities," he emphasized.
SFCCI - 2022, President, Nankong Perme said that the ending of the football championship marks the beginning of Solung Festival Celebration-2022 in ICR.
" Series of programs like inter-state cultural exchange programme, volleyball, tug of war, archery etc as part of the festival are in the line to be organised before the commencement of main event which will held from 1 to 4 September," he Informed.
Sports Secretary, SFCCI-2022, Okit Paleng in his welcome address thanked everyone for their support and making the event a success .
The closing ceremony of football match ended with handing over of medals and trophies  to players , winning team and runner -up including display of colorful cultural activites.
