BORDUMSA, Jul 10: The Ponthai Welfare Society of Bordumsa in collaboration with the district administration organized an awareness program on drug abuse and illicit trafficking at the government secondary school, Wagun Ponthai here on Sunday.
Many NGOs, women from different villages of Bordumsa Subdivision, Tangsa Women Welfare Society - Kharsang, WASE from East Siang district,  ZPM Bordumsa, Bisa Yun Singpho, and public leaders participated in the program.
Speaking on the occasion, President WASE  Yamik Dulom Darang elaborated on the types of drugs and their ill effects on society and also demonstrated the material that women should have for their self-defense.
Secretary WASE Joya T Moyong said that the increasing number of drug users in Arunachal especially among the youths poses a grave danger to society. She also informed that the WASE team is always there to provide all kinds of moral & technical support in the fight against the drug menace.
TWWS President Korong Longri appealed to the villages to avoid drugs and live a meaningful life. She also added that running a temporary De-addiction Center in Wagun Ponthai village will surely help people to overcome drug issues.
