ZIRO, Apr 7: In a effort to create awareness among the public about provision under “protection of children from sexual offences act, 2012 and sexual harassment of women at work place act,2013” ,the district administration, Ziro conducted a day long workshop at Hapoli today.

Addressing the gathering, CDPO, Hage Indira while briefing the gathering about the salient features of the acts, emphasized that these laws are made especially to empower and  protect women and young girls in society against all forms of abuse and exploitation. 

Sub Inspector, Toki Tayeng informed about various services rendered by police under these acts  and urged all to make a complaint to police whenever they witness such  crimes in their locality.

Resource person, Advocate, Pura Dolla informed about legal provisions under the acts, which is meant for weaker section of society. He also informed about how one person can seek legal aid under the acts and where to lodge such complaints.

In his speech, EAC, Mobia Tai informed that in addition to police one can also give confessional statement to the magistrate if one desires and urged upon the nodal department (ICDS) to leave no stone unturned to implement the acts.
