TAWANG, Jul 10:

 

 

A district level awareness campaign on importance of organic cultivation was conducted at DC's Conference Hall, Tawang on Monday, wherein HoDs, PRIs members and farmers of the district actively participated.

The program was sponsored by K Link Health Care (India) Pvt. Ltd and organized by Department of Agriculture & Horticulture,Tawang.

Addressing the gathering EAC, Lobsang Tsetan highlighted on the importance of Organic Farming and its benefits to the environment and apprised the participants regarding the loss of soil fertility due to excess use of chemical fertilizers and contamination of  water sources during rainy season.

 

Further elaborating on ill effects and future implications of chemical fertilizers to health, Tsetan exhorted the farmers to adopt organic means of farming and advised the concerned departments that farmers be taken on exposure visit to Sikkim which is the first organic state in the country.

 

Later a power point presentation titled “A Measure of Sustainable Development'” was shown to the gathering by KB Kayastha, besides 'Mission Organic Value Chain Development' and 'Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana” were also emphasized.
