YINGKIONG, Aug 31: Covid-19 awareness programme for villages under Mariyang Sub-Division was conducted on August 28 last, under the chairmanship of Khodfa Lasa, Circle Officer-cum-Chairman Covid-19 Monitoring Committee, Mariyang.
The objective of the programme was to build a bridge of cooperation between government agencies and villages in prevention and Covid-19 monitoring effort vis-à-vis normal development and economic activities of the Sub-Division.
While explaining procedural and Medico-Legal aspects of guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOP)s, the Circle Officer said that the government is taking all necessary steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and that there is no reason to panic and impose customary lockdown in villages. Such customary lockdowns without sanction from lawful authority is creating hurdles in socio-economic development initiatives of the government and inconvenience to the public at large. It is also considered a violation of government direction, the official said.
