DOLLUNGMUKH, Nov 5: A day-long awareness camp on drugs and its abuse was organized by Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) women wing and Dollungmukh Nyeder Namlo Committee on Sunday in collaboration with Women Against Social Evils (WASE), Pasighat and Mother Vision, Aalo at VKV Conference Hall, Kolaptukar.
Topics like ill effects of drugs, sources of drugs and rehabilitation of  addicts, modules to fight against drugs by WASE, and role of mothers, relatives and public were discussed. Addressing the participants,  resource person Deputy Director, Maternal and Health, Dr Runi Tasung with powerpoint  presentation gave a clear picture of ill effects of tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Informing about the glaring statistic of death rate caused by consumption of tobacco, alcohol and other related things, she said that the North Eastern states rank top in the country.
Dr Tasung while taking attention of VKV students informed about famous celebrities like Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, etc who died due to smoking and consumption of drugs. She also spoke on how this leads to socio-economic problems, domestic violence and subsequently to death.
Taking technical session on the topic of sources of drugs & rehabilitation, Director, Mother’s Vision Kennedy Bagra, a former drug addict himself, explained the progressive pattern of behavior, moral deterioration by drug addiction. 

Calling to equip oneself to deal with drug addicts, he said, “You or your family member might not be a victim, but somehow, someday it will surely affect you.” 
While narrating on how WASE was formed and called to be ‘Tiger Moms’, Secretary, WASE, Joya Tasung informed about achievements made so far by them. She, while encouraging the women participants, urged them to make similar kind of collective effort to address issues related to societies and their children’s well being. 
Another resource person of the programme, Chairperson Mother’s Vision & Child Development Project Officer Jumde Gamlin sharing her experience called on the fathers to shoulder the responsibility of raising children instead of leaving it only to mothers. She also appealed to all the parents to help and support who are battling with drug addiction or alcohol abuse to restore their lives back to normal. Gamlin also informed about their rehabilitation centre purely run by Mother’s Vision without any aid from government or others.
