NAMSAI, Sep 18: In the wake of a sexual harassment allegation, the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), Namsai, has come out strongly in support of the victim student, announcing the immediate termination of the accused faculty member and pledging full cooperation with the police.
In an official clarification , AUS stated that the incident did not take place on campus but at the residence of the lecturer, when the student had visited Namsai to appear for her ATKT/Backlog examination.
Acting swiftly, the University’s Proctorial Board removed the faculty member from service and confirmed that it is assisting the Namsai Police Department to ensure that a watertight case is filed against the accused.
Deputy Registrar Vipin Rawat, in the statement, said the institution is determined to make this case an strong example. “We remain firmly committed to securing exemplary punishment in this matter, so that such a heinous act is never repeated. The safety, dignity, and well-being of our students are paramount, and we will continue to uphold the highest standards of accountability and justice” he added.
With this decisive action, AUS has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against sexual harassment and assured the community that it stands unwaveringly by its students, stated Deputy Registrar.
