ITANAGAR, Jul 9: An emergency meeting of the central executive members of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) under the chairmanship of its  President Hawa Bagang took strong exceptions to the repeated attacks and harassments meted out to the people of Arunachal Pradesh in Assam.
After threadbare discussions and deliberations, the union members unanimously decided to take up the matter seriously with appropriate authorities at all levels. It called for arresting all those involved in the recent attacks on innocent Arunachalees in Dibrugarh, Dhemaji and jointly took a decision to issue an ultimatum to the Government of Assam to take necessary steps to stop such unlawful activities against the Arunachalees. AAPSU General Secretary Tobom Dai opined that continuous violence against the people of Arunachal in Assam for petty issues may trigger a situation whereby Assamese people working in the state may face a hostile environment which may badly hamper the age-old historic bonhomie between the two states.
Dy. Spokesperson AAPSU Nepha Wangsa while condemning the recent Paltan Bazar, Dibrugarh incident sought justice for the Arunachalees and stated that such unlawful activities needs to be avoided at any cost as it may trigger communal violence. “Even many have to rush back without attending further medications in fear of the mob that searched hotels, stopped vehicles with Arunachal registration,” he noted.
Meanwhile, an eight-member team led by Spokesperson Tadar Taking left for Roing to pursue with the Lower Dibang Valley District Administration and the Roing Police for early investigation of the murder of Toge Mepola, the Co-Convener (East) of AAPSU. AAPSU team decided to take up the matter following the request by aggrieved family members of Late Mepola who said that no headway has been made into the case since last two months.
Further, the Union had also decided to take up the matter of timely disbursement of scholarship/ stipend to the students which has been pending since the last many months with  the state government again.
