ITANAGAR, Nov 20: The Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) on Tuesday appealed the state government for the creation of Multitasking Staff (MTS) posts in all government-run schools across the state and depute adequate subject teachers in remote schools under Longding, Tirap, Changlang, Namsai, Lohit etc.
Informing about its recent tour conducted in seven districts to get first-hand information of the education scenario, it reported that most of the schools are facing a shortage of core subject teachers, and few primary and secondary schools are run by SSA teachers only.
It also informed that some of the senior secondary schools are confused regarding the state government’s cabinet decision for “implementation of the pre-board (class 10 and class 12) and its criteria like 33% pass mark in each subject and 80 per cent mandatory attendance to appear for the final board exam.”
Stating that under CBSE bye-laws there are no such criteria mentioned, it claimed that as per bye-law, once a student is registered and the list of candidate (LOC) with allotted roll number is issued, he/she should be allowed to appear in the examination.
The association further expressed its reservation over a circular issued by the department of education regarding income tax exemption certificate.  It stated that the teachers are in doubt about its authentication since there is no such notification issued from the government of India and GoAP. It further asked the state government to look into the matter seriously.
