ITANAGAR, Dec 28: The All Arunachal Abo Tani Association (AATA) demanded the Forest and Environment Minister Mama Natung to shift the mini secretariat, Eastern Division Office Namsai to a different location within 20 days on Tuesday.
Addressing the media persons at the press club here, general secretary AATA, James Teli Camdir said the mini secretariat office at Namsai falls under the reserve forest, where No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the concerned department is required.
“The office was constructed without obtaining NOC and no requisite forest clearance for the functioning of said office,” Camdir said.
Informing that there has been issuance of Land Possessing Certificates (LPC) on Forest Reserve Land in Namsai district which is not permissible, AATA also demanded for immediate and strict implementation of Forest Act 1980 to protect the flora, fauna and ecological components of forest.
Association’s demands included immediate cancellation of all the LPCs issued within the reserve forest, (which is causing serious damages to the forest land due to earth cutting, deforestation and destruction of environment).
Not to entertain proposal for de-reservation of Namsai township which was forwarded by the Deputy Commissioner of Namsai to state government as it will amount to violation of forest conservation act 1980 and to issue notification to all the district’s DCs of the state not to issue any kind of allotment in the forest reserve area.
