ITANAGAR, Oct 4:  An Assam Rifles jawan was martyred while another injured in an ambush carried out by suspected militants in Changlang district today.
As per official sources the attack was perpetrated near Hetlong village in between Jairampur and Manmow road of Changlang district at around 9 am. Sources also add that the finger of suspicion is on a group of suspected United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA Independent) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K).
According to unconfirmed reports, the militants first detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on the road and then sprayed the tanker with bullets before fleeing from the spot.
PRO, Defense Lt Col H. Vardhan Pandey informed that the identity of the  martyred hasn't been announced yet, adding that operation on the ground is still on.
Recently the central government has declared three districts and four police stations in three other districts in Arunachal Pradesh as “disturbed area” under the AFSPA for six more months after review of insurgent activities and the law and order situation there.
 The notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh and four police stations — Namsai and Mahadevpur in Namsai, Roing in Lower Dibang Valley and Sunpura in Lohit district have been declared as "disturbed areas" under the AFSPA.
