LONGO, Jan 30: Khonsa battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp for the residents of Longo Village, Tirap District on Saturday to provide basic health checkup and lifesaving medicines to the villagers of Longo, which is one of the remote areas of the district. The village with a total population of 486 does not have proper medical facility and thus remain deprived of basic health related provisions.
The Commandant of Khonsa battalion informed that the medical camp is aimed at screening for iceberg diseases in the community. Medicines provided to the village are helpful for health problems ranging from fever to other life-threatening diseases, with a stock to suffice for the entire population of the village.
An interactive session was also organized, where people were educated about ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the recently added threat of Omicron variant and preventive measures to stay safe. Earlier also such civic action programs and camps have been organized by the Khonsa battalion of Assam Rifles to provide citizens of Tirap District with help in all domains for development of the region and to lead a better life.
