Itanagar, May 18: Capital Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom through a press briefing on Monday informed that Section 144 of CrPC has been extended upto May 31 and will be applicable daily from 7 pm in the evening to 5 am in the morning.
DC informed that the earlier order of opening shops alternately on the left and right hand sides of NH-415 will remain in force and appealed the business community to cooperate with the administration by strictly maintaining the SOPs like compulsory wearing of masks, social distancing etc. while running businesses. Giving the details about quarantine facilities, DC informed that the PTC can accommodate 444 persons out of which 119 are currently occupied and informed that paid quarantine centres have also been set up by requisitioning 34 hotels at Itanagar and Naharlagun which have a combined capacity of 608 rooms. BPL complex will start functioning as a quarantine facility in next 2-4 days which will accommodate 200 persons initially and will be upgraded to 570 once completed, he added.
Taking into consideration the assessment that around 350 stranded students from various  states are about to return, DC appealed the denizens to cooperate with the administration and refrain from protesting and raising issues against the paid quarantine facilities and assured that administrators, police and medical teams will be deployed for 24x7 vigil.
While deliberating on the dual methods of providing quarantine which are home and facility quarantine, DC said that the concept of home quarantine which was earlier not properly followed will be emphasized this time. He countered the notion as nurtured by a section of denizens that these quarantine centres are potential points for origin of Covid-19 infection and assured that these people are not positive and if any positive case(s) emerge, the infected person(s) will be immediately shifted to the TRIHMS.
As spitting in public is now a punishable offence under section 51(B) of the Disaster Management Act, DC requested the denizens to refrain from the act, reminding that chewing of pan, tobacco etc in public places is also banned. He also appealed all not to venture out of their homes especially the senior citizens above 65 years, children below 10 years and pregnant women, except for urgent matters.
DC urged the capital denizens to download the Aarogya Setu app which will ease the tracking of Covid cases. DIPRO
