ITANAGAR, May 8: Major General Jarken Gamlin (Retd.) has been designated as the voluntary State Coordinator for leading the ex-servicemen of Arunachal Pradesh in the fight against Covid pandemic by Governor Brig. (Dr) B. D. Mishra (Retd.).
The decision which was taken after consultation with the state government was announced today by the Raj Bhavan. In his new role, Major General (Retd.) Gamlin who is also the senior most among the state’s ex-servicemen will coordinate their voluntary services with government officials at local level and people’s representatives. While exhorting the state’s ex-servicemen to come forward to help the administration in the fightback, the Governor expressed hope that their training, discipline and experience will immensely help in the process of providing assistance to the Covid affected persons all well as in managing the related essential services.  Effective utilization of available manpower of ex-servicemen in the state will help in achieving the twin purposes of containing the spread of the pandemic and also in helping the already Covid infected populace, he said. 

The state’s ex-servicemen can assist the civil and health administrators in converting villages and colonies into micro containment zones and can also be engaged in Covid protection awareness campaigns locally, the Governor opined.
