TATO, Mar 22: Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung has assured for a well developed football ground for the sports enthusiasts of Shi-Yomi district on Monday.
Natung, who was attending the closing ceremony of the first Pasang Wangchuk Sona Football & Volleyball Tournament-2021 at Tato general ground here, said the youths of the district are full of talent which needs to be polished.
He said that, with proper guidance, encouragement and nourishment, the youth of the district can bring laurel to the newly created district.
Natung appealed the youths to continue with healthy living by playing any sports and not to dilute the inborn talent by jumping into drugs.
“The youths of our state have inborn talents to excel in any sports. Therefore, the department of sports & youth affairs is encouraging such talents by providing platforms,” he said, adding that every District Sports department have been entrusted to choose the best sportsmen to represent the state.
He also said that Chief Minister Pema Khandu understands the pulse of the youth and is always encouraging them in every field.
Natung, who is also minister for water resource department (WRD) and environment & forest assured for a well established WRD department building and office of Forest division for the district within six months.
Natung, who is running around the ‘Air Gun surrender campaign’ in the state, urged upon the PRI leaders to spearhead the campaign in the interest of future generation.  
Meanwhile, Speaker APLA cum Chief Patron of the football tournament, PD Sona said that the people of the district have much expectation from the minister as well as the state government for social and infrastructural developmental in the district.
“We have great talent in the district but they have remained unexposed due to bad road connectivity, Tele- communication and basic requirements,” Sona said, adding that the tournament is also an approach to bring positive way of living among the youths of the district.
Later, in a thrilling final football match played between Ruto Aao SC and Tagur Aao FC, the latter defeated the former by 5-2 goals.
