ITANAGAR, Mar 10: The Election Commission of India has announced Elections to the 17 Lok Sabha and 101 Legislative Assembly of Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday. With this the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the State with the date of announcement of elections. The Chief Electoral Officer in a release this evening has directed all Government machineries to strictly follow the Model Code of Conduct. Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act/Rules will be mandatory imposed by all DCs.
Issue of notification will be on March 18 and last date of making nomination will be March 25. Scrutiny of nominations will be on March 26 while the last date for withdrawal of candidatures will be on March 28.
Polling day is April 11 while counting of votes will take place on May 23. Election will be completed before May 27.
The state has total Electors 7, 94,162 as on 04.01.2019 with 3, 92,561 males and 4, 01,601 females. As per records, Photo Electoral Roll coverage is 99.97% and Electoral Photo Identity Card coverage is 99.97%. There will 2202 Polling Stations spread over the entire State. Polling Station no. 52 SE (Power) offices, East Side, Naharlagun under 13-Itanagar (ST) AC with 1340 voters has the highest number of electors in the State. The Polling Station with least no of electors is Malogam Temporary Structure in Malogam Village under 45-Hayuliang (ST) Assembly Constituency with one female voter. Polling Station No. 18-Luguthang under 3-Mukto (ST) Assembly Constituency is the highest Polling Station located at an altitude of about 13583 ft. Also, 11 numbers of Polling Stations exclusively for female voters have been set up in the State.
All necessary arrangements to conduct the elections have already been completed in the State. Training of all District Election Officers, Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers and various categories of Nodal Officers were completed by the CEO's office. Training of all Polling Officers and other election related officers in the entire State have been started by the concerned District Election Officers.
For the first time, voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) will be used along with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in all the polling stations. Extensive awareness programme about use of WPAT have been conducted in the Districts covering all accessible Polling Stations including many foot march locations. For service voters totaling 4964 voters, electronically transmitted postal ballots (ETPBS) system will be used for the first time to facilitate hassle free voting.
First Level Checking of EVMs have been completed in the entire State in presence of political party representatives over the course of past many months. For poll day monitoring of the poll process in the State, SMS based Poll Monitor System will be used and vehicles carrying reserve EVMs will be fitted with GPS in all cellular network covered areas.
