ITANAGAR, Sep 23: Arunachal is all set to have its third tiger reserve as the Centre has given its consent for the establishment of Dibang Tiger Reserve. This was informed by Union Minister of State for Forest & Environment, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Ashwini Kumar Choubey who is on a maiden visit to the state.
Speaking to reporters, the MoS informed that his Ministry has sanctioned Rs 1588.72 crore in 2019 under Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) fund as well as Rs 155.40Crore and Rs 190.56 crore for different other projects under CAMPA Fund to the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
“The central government is resolved to develop North-eastern states and Arunachal Pradesh is the centre of them all.Besides the CAMPA fund, the Ministry is ready to sanction funds under Nagar –Van Yojana and School Nursery Yojana  in Itanagar,” he said.
Choubey also assured to extend assistance for an alternative to Jhum cultivation, support to encourage eco-tourism and other activities which are beneficial for the people of Arunachal Pradesh. Appreciating the initiative of of the state's Minister for Environment & Forest, Mama Natung and his team for “Arunachal Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan”, Choubey said "This initiative will be a role model not only for the country but the whole world against non-violence and conservation of nature." He assured that his Ministry will extend all possible support for the development of Arunachal Pradesh.
Being the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, he also informed that 2088MT FCI godown will be constructed  at Namsai and licences for hallmark for 13 items (11 for Gold and 2 for Silver) has been already allotted to the Department in the state.
The MoS also held a meeting with the officials of Forest & Environment, Legal Metrology Department,FCI and others. During the meeting, he felicitated the wife of Poulash Karmakar who was killed by a tiger at the Itanagar Biological Park in May last.He also handed over certificates of appreciation to various sportspersons and the public who surrendered their Air Guns.
Earlier, Choubey along with Minister Mama Natung, Advisor to Minister-cum MLA Kimsi Sidisow, PCCF-RK Singh and other officials of the Forest Department visited the Biological Park(Zoo) and planted saplings at the premises.
