ITANAGAR, May 12: An Indonesian national, Muhammad Aras Razak, winner of many national and international championships has been signed as permanent coach for the badminton athletes of the state under the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA).
Addressing the media persons at the press club here today, President ASBA Techi Rotu said that the association has signed an MoU for two years with Razak. And accordingly, the association has identified more than 20 potential athletes through the initiative, ‘Catch them young' from the age of 9-17 years aiming for the Olympics 2028 and after.
He also added that with the arrival of a highly-skilled coach in the state, the standard of athletes will reach a new height in days to come. He appealed to the state government, athletes, and parents to extend every possible support in the mission so as to bring laurels for the state and the country in future games.
Meanwhile, ASBA Secretary Bamang Tago said "To have a permanent badminton coach for the athletes was a dream. This has been finally accomplished with the help of the state government and the commitment of ASBA president Techi Rotu."
He also said that the parents of the athletes must be acknowledged without whom, the dream to have a coach wouldn’t have been possible.
He also informed that with the support of the state government, the athletes will soon have an international standard Badminton court which is under construction at Chimpu.
