ITANAGAR, July 27: Chief Secretary  Dharmendra held a meeting with all the Deputy Commissioners through video conferencing today to review the progress of Mission Amrit Sarovar in the Arunachal Pradesh.
Stressing on the importance of the mission, he told the Deputy Commissioners that the vision with which the Prime Minister has launched the initiative must be fulfilled within the deadline.
Arunachal Pradesh has a total target of 1875 ponds/waterbodies/sarovars to develop under the Mission Amrit Mahotsav to be completed on or before 15th August 2023. As per the latest report, total 1714 sites have been identified out of which in 458 sites the works have started and 55 sarovars are reported to be completed. The total target for Amrit Sarovar to be completed on or before 15th August this year is 375.
The Deputy Commissioners were directed to submit the detailed report of the full list of the identified sites on or before 8th August next. The Deputy Commissioners were told to ensure that 20% of the total identified Sarovars in their districts be completed before 15th August.
With a view to conserve water for the future, the Prime Minister launched Mission Amrit Sarovar on 24th April earlier this year. The mission aims to develop and rejuvenate 75 water bodies in each district of the country as a part of celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.
The Deputy Commissioners were told to put in their full efforts for the successful celebration of Har Ghar Tiranga, Covid Vaccine Mahotsav, and Har Ghar Jal Utsav in their respective districts.
Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj A. Talwade, Secretary Science & Technology Remo Kamki and others were also present at the meeting.
