ITANAGAR, Jul 19: Arunachal Pradesh on Monday encountered a grim milestone in its battle against Covid with daily caseload crossing the 500 mark. However, recoveries were not that poor and there was just a single casualty.
Casualties
An 80-yr old male from East Siang who tested Covid positive at BPGH, Pasighat on Sunday died on the way to his village on the same day due to cardio-respiratory failure. He was fully vaccinated and was suffering from a host of comorbidities. The state’s Covid casualty count is now 203 after this death.
Recoveries, New Cases, Sample Collection
Of the 508 new cases (asymptomatic 313; symptomatic 195) in the state recorded on the day, ICC saw 140 more denizens getting infected (positivity rate 15%). Lohit, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, East Siang and Upper Subansiri were the districts that followed next with 49, 35, 34, 33 and 28 respectively. In West Siang cases 20 cases were detected, taking the positivity rate to 11 %. Of the total 458 recoveries, the first 5 districts were ICC (116), West Kameng (41), Namsai (39), East Siang (38) and Lohit  (36). The state’s active caseload is now 4260 and recoveries 38865. A total of 6570 samples were collected from across the state with 935 from the ICC.   
Vaccination
5611 beneficiaries under the '18 years and above' age category were vaccinated on the day with the 1st dose (60 % coverage till July 19) and 4369 received their 2nd shots (14% coverage so far).
Occupancy status
It was 49 at DCH Chimpu, 44 at SQF Lekhi, 1 at DCHC Midpu, 10 at DCH Pasighat and 28 at DCHC till 8 pm on Monday.
Containment Zones
Currently   there are a total of 55 containment zones in the state spread over 15 districts, with 16 in the ICC. Total number of Covid positive cases detected in these zones are 962, with 275 from ICC alone.
