ITANAGAR, Jul 23: Covid recoveries in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday outnumbered new cases after weeks, although 4 more deaths took the casualty toll to 212.
Casualties
A 54-yr old male Covid patient from Tawang district who was an alcoholic and was not vaccinated was declared ‘brought dead’ today at DH Tawang. At Sanjeevani hospital Dibrugarh, an 81-yr old male Covid  patient from Lohit suffering from COPD and fully vaccinated died on Thursday. A 54-yr old male from Changlang with comorbidity of diabetes expired today at DCH Pasighat. He was administered with dose 1 of the vaccine. At DCH Chimpu, a 48-yr old male from Upper Subansiri suffering from hypertension and vaccinated with dose 1 died on Thursday. ARDS with Covid pneumonia has been cited as the immediate reason of death in the above casualties except for the first in which it was Covid pneumonia only.

Recoveries, New Cases, Sample Collection
Among the 480 new cases (asymptomatic 279; symptomatic 201), with 119 (positivity rate 12%) new Covid patients, ICC remained as the top Covid-infected district followed by Lower Subansiri (44), East Siang (37), Papum Pare (35) and West Kameng (31). In West Siang cases have declined from the previous day’s 34 to 16 (7 % positivity). 
Of the 517 new recoveries on the day that took the state’s overall count to 40619, the first 7 districts were ICC (133), East Siang (63), West Kameng (37), Papum Pare & Tawang (34 each), Changlang (33) and West Siang (32). On Friday evening the number of active cases in the state stood at 4357. 6921 samples were also collected from across the state on the day.     
Vaccination
Under the '18 years and above' age category, 4069 took their 1st jabs (coverage has increased to 62%) and 3790 their 2nd (15% coverage).
Occupancy status
At DCH Chimpu it was 55, at SQF Lekhi 32, Nil at DCHC Midpu, 7 at DCH Pasighat and 28 at DCHC as of July 23 (8 pm).
Containment Zones
The number of containment zones in the state after reduction is now 58 and the total number of Covid positive cases in such zones is 1000.
