ITANAGAR, Aug 18: 133 more people, including 28 security personnel, have tested positive for Covid-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, raising the state's total caseload to 2,875 on Tuesday.
Of the 133 new cases, 65 were reported from Daporijo town in Upper Subansiri district, 22 from West Kameng district, 16 from Itanagar capital complex, Changlang and Tirap reporting 8 cases each, 3 from Tawang, two each from Papumpare, East Kameng and Shi Yomi and one each from Siang, West Siang, East Siang, Namsai and Leparada districts respectively, the official health bulletin stated. The New Market area in Daporijo has been declared containment zone.
Barring 13, all of them are asymptomatic and shifted to Covid care centres, State Surveillance Officer Dr L Jampa said.
Fifty five people including 20 from East Kameng, 5 from the Capital Complex, eight from West Kameng, East Siang (7), Namsai (5), Lower Siang (3), Tawang (2), Changlang (2), West Siang (1), Longding (1) and Lohit (1) were discharged from hospitals on Tuesday after being cured of the infection, pushing the number of recoveries to 1,949.
A total of 1,259 people, including 551 security personnel, have tested positive for the infection in the state since August 1, Dr. Jampa said.
The recovery rate in the state increased to 69.06 per cent, as 1,112 people have recovered from Covid-19 since the beginning of this month, he said.
Arunachal Pradesh, which reported its first Covid-19 case on April 2, has 921 active patients at present. Five people have died due to Covid-19 so far.
As many as 2,487 samples were tested for Covid-19 on Monday, taking the total number of samples tested in the state to 1,27,286, he added. (With PTI Inputs)
